Event description
The Junior Developers Bootcamp is designed for career-changers and recent graduates who have learned to code but have never worked on a real software project with a team. Over two days you will experience the full development cycle - from a blank repo to a deployed application - using the same tools and practices used in professional engineering teams.
What you will build
A simple but complete web application: a job board with user authentication, a database-backed API, and a frontend deployed to the cloud. By Sunday evening it will be live at a real URL.
Programme overview
Day 1 - Foundation
- Morning: Git workflow, branching strategy, and pull request etiquette
- Afternoon: REST API design, PostgreSQL basics, and connecting the two with Node.js
- Evening optional: code review session - your PR reviewed line by line
Day 2 - Delivery
- Morning: Frontend basics with React - just enough to build the UI
- Afternoon: deployment to Railway, environment variables, and basic monitoring
- Closing: demo day - every team presents their work to the group
Who should attend
People who have completed a bootcamp, online course, or university CS degree and want to bridge the gap to their first job. No professional experience required. You should be comfortable writing functions, loops, and basic data structures in JavaScript or TypeScript.
Lunch both days is included. Mentors with 5+ years of industry experience will be available throughout.
