Event description
The Open Source Contributor Summit is about doing, not watching. We gather maintainers of active open-source projects and contributors who want to go deeper than fixing typos - and we spend a day working together in the same room.
Format
The morning starts with three short talks: one on getting your first PR merged into a major project, one on the realities of maintaining an OSS project with 2,000 GitHub stars and zero budget, and one on legal basics every contributor should understand (licences, CLAs, and the DCO).
The rest of the day is an open contribution session. Project maintainers will have good-first-issues and help-wanted issues pre-selected. Facilitators circulate to help contributors get unstuck. You are also welcome to bring your own project and use the session to do focused work with people who will ask hard questions about your architecture.
Who should attend
Software engineers who have made at least one open-source contribution and want to contribute more. Maintainers looking for collaborators and contributors. Developers curious about the open-source ecosystem who want to see how it actually works up close.
